Patient Resoures

  1. Your First Visit

To prepare for your first visit, we encourage you to look over our list of items to bring along with you. In addition, you will want to complete our patient registration form found here.

It is always our objective for your experience at Apicella-Lorei Orthodontics to be pleasant and informative. During your complimentary consultation, we will take time to examine your bite and teeth as well as discuss potential treatment options.

To prepare for this visit, we will ask that you bring with you any referral information, x-rays and a list of medications you are currently taking. In addition, we will ask you to complete our patient registration form online.

Once we determine your treatment plan, we will want to see you every 6-10 weeks to check your progress and make adjustments within no time you will have achieved the smile you desire and deserve!

  3. Appointment Policies

Apicella-Lorei Orthodontics is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. If you have a TRUE emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day.

If for some reason you cannot make it to your appointment, please contact our office.  By doing so, you allow us to reschedule your appointment in a timely manner, preventing the potential for an unnecessary extension of treatment time. Please note: Failure to attend your scheduled appointment without a 24 hour notice, will result in a $25 fee.  If it is after hours leave your name, number, and a brief message in our voicemail and we will return your call when we return.

  5. Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene is an important part of orthodontic treatment. Brushing and flossing daily will keep your visits to our office at a minimum. Our technicians will show you how to best clean your teeth and braces during your appointments. In addition, they will let you know if there are any spots you need to focus on.

Check braces once a week for anything loose or bent. If a bracket or band comes loose or you break a wire, please call either of our offices so that we can arrange an appointment. Try to explain what has happened by using the diagram provided. Be as specific as possible with the receptionist. If you lose your rubber bands, please contact us so that we can set-up arrangements for you to receive more.

For further guidance on proper brushing and flossing techniques, please refer to the “Orthodontic Brushing and Flossing Procedure” handout that you recieved at your bonding appointment.  If you have further questions, please contact either of our offices.

  6. Emergency Care

Emergency care for orthodontic patients is occasionally needed. Some treatments can be easier with patient intervention.

What to do if you have an emergency:

Emergency appointments may be made if you are having discomfort, a loose band, a broken wire, or something sticking out that you are unable to take care of.  Knowing the names of the appliance parts will be beneficial, as it will help us to provide the best care possible when trying to schedule an emergency appointment.  Providing excellent care to our patients is a priority, and we always make an effort to correct any problems as quickly as possible.

If you have an emergency, such as a broken bracket, loose or poking wire, or something else that may be causing you discomfort, please call our Mechanicsburg office at 717-697-8222 or our Carlisle office at 717-243-3200, option 9.  Please Note: For an emergency in-office visit, a $25 after-hours fee will be charged at the time of the visit.
