About Dr. A. J. Apicella, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Apicella, a native of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, in chemistry, from Washington and Jefferson College in 1984 and his Doctorate Dental Degree from University of Maryland Dental School in 1988. Following an additional three years of Post Doctoral studies, Dr. Apicella received his certificate in Orthodontics and a Master’s of Science Degree in Oral Biology, also from The University of Maryland. Most recently Dr. Apicella has become Board Certified and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Apicella's academic achievements include presentation of his Post Doctoral research findings at The 8th International Congress of Electrophysiological Kinesiologists (1991), which were then published in a follow-up abstract and article. Dr. Apicella has also enjoyed teaching Orthodontics and had been a faculty member at The University of Maryland Dental School as a part-time Associate Professor from 1991 through 1995.
Aside from his involvement in numerous Dental and Orthodontic Societies as well as civic groups, Dr. Apicella enjoys spending time with his wife Susan, and their two sons, Dominic and Adam. Their family time centers on church activities, sports and the outdoors.
About Dr. Brian Lorei, D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Brian Lorei is originally from Erie, Pennsylvania. After completing 3 years of undergraduate studies, at the University of Pittsburgh, he was granted early entrance into the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine in 1997, and was awarded a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University Of Pittsburgh in 1998, and his Dental degree in 2001, graduating first in his class.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Lorei pursued his post-graduate training in orthodontics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery where he earned both a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science Degree in Oral Biology in 2004. During his residency, Dr. Lorei co-authored an article (Digital Models: An Introduction) which was selected for publication in Seminars in Orthodontics, a highly respected orthodontic journal.
Following the completion of his orthodontic training, Dr. Lorei honored a commitment to the United States Air Force, which led him to the other side of the Pacific. Stationed at Yokota Air Base in Tokyo Japan, he served as Chief of Orthodontic Services.
Upon the completion of his military commitment, Dr. Lorei and his family returned to the United States settling in San Diego, California where he entered into private practice. Despite San Diego's nice climate, Dr. Lorei found himself missing the beauty of the changing seasons and is thrilled to be returning to Pennsylvania.
Dr. Lorei is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Pacific Coast Association of Orthodontists. He continues to stay abreast of the most modern techniques, such as the Damon Brace system, and regularly attends continuing education seminars.
Dr. Lorei met his wife Dr. Sarah Lorei in dental school at the University of Pittsburgh. They have a 19 month old daughter, Leila who has not yet shown any interest in dentistry, and a son due in early January. In his spare time, Dr. Lorei enjoys golfing, hiking, running and most importantly spending time with his family.
